Entertaining & Educational
The book is not only entertaining, but educational while being read by a parent or grandparent to a child. The text of the book corresponds to the pictures which in themselves will quickly grab a child's attention.Amazon Customer

Real-Life Experiences
According to the author, this is a “very real representation of my childhood and the fun I had”. He goes on to say that he “got the idea to write this book as I told stories to my two grandchildren”. I love this idea and reading this book to my grandchildren will prompt stories of my own childhood to share. Sometimes all that is needed is a small push and this book will help me as I try to connect with them. The author tries to maintain a rhyming pattern in the stories. At times, this causes him to choose words that I think might be above the comprehension level of his audience. The rhymes are interesting, but I think getting the message across is more important.
The stories run the gamut of childhood experiences. They are real (sometimes too real) and deal with real-life experiences with which all children and adults can identify. That makes the book more interesting and, at least in my case, prompts the reader to remember similar stories in their own lives.
I salute Walker on this book and look forward to following his lead as I share stories with my grandchildren.

A great first book for children
This hard cover book is just plain fun, and a great book for parents and grandparents to read to youngsters. Written by a grandfather inspired by his own granddaughters, and illustrated by Chuck Jones, the book is a series of two page long stories in poetry that are fun to read out loud and give clever lessons in everything from getting a dog or going to school to having an accident and learning to swim. A great book for librarians to read to children’s groups, s groups, and easy enough to pick up for one nighttime story of two minutes or five stories or more for longer reading periods.
The poetry is silly and far fetched at times, but bound to create streams of laughter and fun. A great first book for children by a financial advisor with adult books to his credit.

Rhyming & Illustrations
This is the first book with more than two sentences a page that my son has been glued to - I think it's a combination of the rhyming and the illustrations.
